The home of Lowestoft Ex-Servicemens Club Chess Group established 01/07/05, with the aim of promoting and facilitating the playing of CHESS in Lowestoft, North Suffolk, South-East Norfolk including the Waveney towns of Beccles, Bungay, Halesworth and Loddon

Chess playing facilities for all ages and experiences including tuition.

Meetings are held every Monday (including bank holidays) 7pm-11pm but you are welcome to come and go at times that suit you. Players do not have to be an ex-serviceman/women to join - all are welcome

The group plays competitive chess in the Norfolk Chess League - for fixtures, results and league tables see the Norfolkchess.org website

The Group encourages and will actively support Juniors (under 16 years of age) to play or learn to play Chess. To this end the Group runs its own Junior Chess Club. ( See Juniors page)

The group will actively support, if it is at all possible, any organiser of any event that is being run to support a charity and/or the disabled. (ring 01502-584320 Arthur Sparkes) Also see disabled page for club facilities.

Play takes in place in quiet, private, Smoke Free, club function rooms.

Whilst it is not currently mandatory for players to be or become full members of the Ex-Servicemen's Club they are encouraged to do so as the Club supports the Chess Group's finances by paying its league entry fees. Parents are welcome to attend in support of their children.

Visitors to the area, holiday-makers, students (including foreign students studying in the Lowestoft area) are very welcome to attend.
